Post House
Vassbacken became an important junction when the west
side of Göta kanal was opened in 1822.
This is a place where the canal meets the main road.
Back in those days the mail coach would stop here on it's
route between Mariestad och karlsborg, and the need for
a post office arised at this place.
In 1830 the little timber house was equipped with bars
and was after that used as post office, the lock-keeper
acted as postmaster.
Today the post house is owned by Moholms local history
society and have been moved 200 m south, near Wassbackens
café and camping.
Visit the small post house on Wassbacken, a little
picturesque museum located next to Göta Kanal.
